Tech Tip: Prolonging Your Battery Life

battery-lifeWith today’s economy we are all trying to get the most out of technology. One of the ways we do this is using our technology for longer periods of time. Did you know: average laptop battery life expectancy is two to three years? This makes it hard to extend the life of your technology. Here are a few pointers to get the most out of each charge:

  • Be sure to use your battery regularly. Don’t always leave it plugged into the wall.
  • Dim your screen.
  • Don’t run too many programs at once.
  • Cut down on external devices. External drives, MP3’s, cell phones and even your mouse can drain your battery.
  • Use hibernate, not standby. Hibernate will shut down the laptop and standby will keep it in a low powered state.

Share your tips for making your battery last longer!
