A Thank You from the YMCA Multicultural Achievers Group
A few weeks ago we shared with you a story about a group of students from the YMCA Multicultural Achievers group in St. Paul. The program helps African American, Hispanic and Latino middle and high school students set and obtain educational and career goals.
In April, the students took a road trip to Texas where they toured eight colleges, volunteered in the community and went on workplace tours. We were able to donate laptops to the students attending to trip to allow them to work on school work and document their experiences in Texas. Below are a few of the notes of thanks we received from the students and we wanted to be sure to share them with our supporters who help us make projects like this possible.
Today was an experience I thought would have never happened. I always wanted to college tour Texas before I actually decided to move down here and I get to. I would love to do more things since we’re already down here. Things that I wouldn’t do in Minnesota. Other than that I am soooooo ready to see what Texas is about. I am really grateful for the opportunity and access that this laptop will bring. It will help me in my academics, and in my writing.

First I want too to say: I’m thankful to be on this trip and I know you guys work hard on this trip and thank you for letting me be apart of this trip . I am also thankful for the new and really cool laptop that we got for being chosen to come on this college tour. I have never owned a laptop that was my very own. Writing our reflections on the laptops every day was tiring, but really beneficial.

Today’s activities were extremely fun. My highs for today were, the fun activities we did at the hotel were exciting. I really enjoy the get too know you games that we did today. THANK YOU THANK YOU for the laptop that was provided to us. I will use this throughout my high school career and into my future. Without having this laptop I was limited, but now with this that barrier is removed.
