Warranty Policy

MCFS Warranty Policy for Schools and Educational Nonprofits

Minnesota Computers for Schools (MCFS) provides a warranty for most products purchased through the program. Warranties are as follows unless otherwise noted in the order confirmation:

  • Desktop systems and laptops have a one to three-year warranty.
  • LCDs have a 90-day warranty.
  • Printers have a 30-day warranty.

The warranty for a specific product is stated on the original order confirmation form you receive at the time you place an order.

Laptop Batteries
There is no warranty on laptop batteries.  If you would like a battery warranty; new batteries generally run between $25-$30 and will include a one-year warranty. Laptop batteries are tested and guaranteed to hold a 30-minute charge at the time of delivery.  Upon delivery, the buyer has 30 days to test their batteries during which time a replacement will be provided.

Warranty Coverage
The warranty will cover the cost of parts and labor for hardware problems with the equipment. The warranty does not cover accidental damage such as laptops being dropped or mishandled. MCFS will repair the customer’s computer or will replace the product with comparable equipment if needed. If a problem exists with equipment purchased from MCFS, the first step is to contact the technical staff by phone at 612-383-2400 or email techsupport@mncfs.org.

If the equipment needs to be returned to MCFS for repair or replacement, tech support will instruct the customer on the process of sending the equipment to MCFS. Any costs associated with returning equipment are the customer’s responsibility. MCFS will either repair or replace the equipment and cover the cost to return the equipment to the customer.

The warranty is not transferable and is from the original purchase date. Please allow 2-4 weeks for repair.

Out of Warranty Repair
If you would like to have equipment repaired after the warranty has expired, we will assist you. There is a $20.00 minimum repair fee. Once technical staff has an opportunity to evaluate the problem, you will be notified of any additional charges that may be necessary to cover the cost of time and materials to repair the equipment.

Return Policy
MCFS is proud of the product that we have to offer to schools and other organizations. If for some reason, you are not 100% satisfied with the product that you have received, we will make every effort to replace or repair the equipment to your satisfaction. We are not able to process returns.

Please call 612-383-2400 for additional information.
