Earth Day – Reusing One Computer Makes a Big Difference

Donate

On Earth Day, we like to take moment to remind our friends about the enormous environmental benefits of donating your computers to MCFS. Not only are they put to good use in schools and nonprofits serving people in need, but it saves thousands of pounds of computer waste from ending up in a landfill each year.

Reusing just one computer saves more than 17 gallons of water and 32 tons of air from being polluted and more than 1,300 pounds of CO2 from being emitted.

Reusing just one computer is the of taking half a car off the road or saving 68 percent of one U.S. household’s allotment of electricity for a year.

It  saves 7,719 kilowatts of energy, 30 lbs. of hazardous waste and 77 lbs. of solid waste.

On Earth Day, we ask you to talk to the IT department in your office to see what they do with unused computers. Talk to your friends, family and neighbors to see how their companies dispose of old technology. You can learn more about donating to MCFS here.
