Tablets Help At-Risk Students Succeed in School
Towards the end of 2013 we had the privilege of working with The Sanneh Foundation, a St. Paul-based organization that provides life skills programs for at risk-children using soccer as the catalyst to empower kids, improve lives and unite communities.
MCFS donated 21 tablets to The Sanneh Foundation’s DreamLine Corps, a program that partners with urban public schools serving at-risk students to provide in-school support and after school leadership skills building to improve academic performance and increase the capacity for youth to become productive adults.
The donated tablets are used in DreamLine programs at eight different schools in St. Paul. High school students use the tablets to do online assignments, type papers, practice math using a variety of educational apps. The DreamLine youth workers use the tablets to run the program – from collecting and analyzing data, to conducting students surveys in order to improve the program. Staff are also able to connect online to share strategies and success stories.
