We are committed to protecting the environment. That’s why we have a no landfill policy.
We make every effort to reuse and refurbish donated equipment. However, when reuse isn’t an option MCFS guarantees that any equipment that cannot be refurbished is recycled. All of the recycled materials are reduced to their smallest component parts and processed domestically – we never export hazardous materials out of the country.
There is no charge for recycling equipment – including CRTs.
Each year we undergo a detailed audit to ensure that our processes comply with strict standards. The certifications below demonstrate our commitment to the environment. Equipment donors can be assured that we are a trusted partner for secure information destruction and recycling of end-of-life electronics. Check out our data security practices to learn more about our secure data destruction procedures.
R2 requires recyclers to assure that toxic material streams are managed safely and responsibly by downstream vendors-all the way to final disposition and prohibits them from exporting these toxic materials to certain countries.
ISO 14001:2004 reassures donors, customers and supporters that we provide an environmentally friendly service and we invest in the resources necessary to ensure a more sustainable future.
MCFS is also registered with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and licensed by Washington County’s Department of Public Health and Environment to operate a Hazardous Waste Facility in the State of Minnesota. Click here to view our license.
In 2014, MCFS recycled 261,614 pounds of computer waste.
