The MCFS scrubbing process complies with the Department of Defense Standards
Data and Drive Destruction
When donating your equipment to MCFS, you don’t have to worry about data security. Each hard drive goes through a rigorous scrubbing process and MCFS staff are the only people with access to the computers until the hard drives are removed and scrubbed.
WipeDrive Enterprise, a Department of Defense approved wiping tool, is used for data destruction that has been used by the U.S. government for more than 12 years. WipeDrive is HIPAA and Department of Defense 5220.22-M compliant as well as NIAP certified.
The use of WipeDrive assures our donors that your computer’s operating system and all personal data will be completely removed from the drive.
If you’d like us to physically destroy your hard d rives, we can run them through a degausser for no additional cost. The magnetic charge from the degausser destroys the hard drive and any data.
