Providing Computers to Students during COVID-19 School Closures
During these difficult times, it’s important to come together to help each other. While schools in Minnesota are closed we will be working to make sure that all kids have a computer at home to allow them to stay connected and participate in distance learning. Thousands of students are not set up for distance learning and it’s vital that at-risk, underserved students don’t fall behind because they don’t have a computer at home. Here are a few ways you can help:
Corporate computer donations: If your company has any unused computers, please consider donating them to MCFS. Any donated computers will be refurbished, licensed and placed in the hands of students and families to help them through these uncertain times. Learn more about donating equipment to MCFS here and contact Katie McMahon to get a donation scheduled at firstname.lastname@example.org or 312-952-1045.
Make a financial donation: We can use financial donations to offset the cost of the equipment so families don’t have to pay for the computers. Financial donations also allow us to purchase memory, hard drives and software licenses. Click here to make a donation.
Host an employee donation drive: Ask your company to work with MCFS to set up a computer donation drive. MCFS would be happy to drop off boxes so that staff can donate their used, personal computer equipment to be placed with low-income families. For more information, contact Katie McMahon at email@example.com or 312-952-1045.
Thanks for your help – stay safe and wash your hands!
