Minnesota Computers for Schools works collaboratively with schools and educationally-focused nonprofits to deliver technology access and skills training across the community. Our programs work to ensure that Minnesota children and under-served adults have access to the computer technology needed to develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence crucial to academic and personal success. By partnering with schools, nonprofits, foundations and government agencies, MCFS is able to achieve our mission and reach more people.
Our organization is empowered to do this work through our workshop at the Minnesota Department of Corrections – Stillwater. We employ offenders to refurbish and recycle computers and related equipment that is being replaced in large enterprises. In addition to providing technology to students in need, MCFS also provides a valuable service to equipment donors, promotes environmentally sound practices in technology reuse and recycling, and provides meaningful work and skills that contribute to inmate restitution and rehabilitation.
