Each hard drive received by MCFS goes though a rigorous scrubbing process.

Equipment received at MCFS is kept in a secured area. MCFS staff are the only people with access to the computers until the hard drives are removed from them and the drives are scrubbed.

Hard drives are then run through Blancco Data Erasure Software. Blancco erases all existing data including Confidential, Secret and Top Secret security level data. It covers all recognized international standards and beyond.

Once the hard drives have been erased Blancco automatically generates a detailed data destruction report. These reports are available for any equipment donor upon request.

Drive Destruction

Hard drives that will not be used in a the refurbishing process are physically destroyed.

These drives are then recycled in an environmentally sound manner.
